Invisalign® Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

It is completely normal to have questions before starting a new orthodontic journey. Below are some of the most common questions our adult patients ask about the Invisalign clear aligner system.

What exactly is Invisalign? Invisalign is a modern alternative to traditional metal braces. It uses a series of virtually invisible, custom-made plastic aligners to slowly and comfortably shift your teeth into alignment based on a precise 3D digital treatment plan.

Will Invisalign interrupt my daily lifestyle? Not at all! Because the aligners are completely clear, they are highly discreet—most people won’t even realize you are wearing them. They are also 100% removable, meaning you can take them out for a special event, a romantic dinner, or a professional presentation.

Are there any food restrictions? No! This is one of the biggest advantages of Invisalign. With traditional braces, you have to avoid hard, crunchy, or sticky foods. With Invisalign, you simply remove your aligners before meals and snacks. You can continue to eat all of your favorite foods without worry.

How do I keep my teeth clean during treatment? Because the aligners are removable, you can maintain your normal oral hygiene routine. Just pop them out, brush your teeth, floss normally, and clean your aligners before putting them back in. There are no wires or brackets for plaque and food to get trapped behind.

How long does treatment take? Every smile is unique. Depending on the complexity of your case, adult treatment times generally range from 6 to 18 months. You will typically start seeing noticeable improvements in your smile within just a few weeks of wearing your first aligner.

Do I have to wear a retainer after I am done? Yes. Teeth have a natural tendency to shift back over time. Wearing a retainer ensures your new, straight smile lasts a lifetime. The great news is that Dental Care Delray includes your first set of retainers for free at the end of your treatment!
